The American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) recently announced the winning projects in their 36th Annual Excellence in Concrete Pavement Awards, and the I-10 Pavement Rehabilitation Project in Caltrans District 8 was named a winner in the Divided Highways (Rural) category.

Earlier this year, the project earned an SWCPA Outstanding Achievement in Concrete Paving Award, presented at the Inaugural California Concrete Pavement Conference on April 16th at UC Davis. The SWCPA award qualified the project for entry into the national ACPA competition.

The Interstate 10 Pavement Rehabilitation Project is one of three that together are completely rehabilitating the stretch of I-10 from Coachella to the Arizona border in a combination of full-depth reconstruction and concrete overlay. Caltrans is working with Coffman Specialties on phases two and three of the project, and worked with Fisher Sand & Gravel on phase one, which was honored as the Freeway/Expressway Project of the Year by the California Transportation Foundation (CTF) on June 12th this year at the CTF Annual Transportation Awards Gala in Irvine, California.

The 36th Annual ACPA Excellence in Concrete Pavement Awards will be presented at the association’s annual meeting on December 4th at Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad, California. REGISTRATION: ACPA 62nd Annual Meeting
